Patterns

I love the construction of Orenburg-style shawls, and so I've used this construction method that Galina Khmeleva taught to me (which she learned from her teacher, Olga Federova) while incorporating the symbols and graphic elements from my home, the desert Southwest.

The size of each shawl is designated by the number of points (peaks or teeth) along each side. Of course, the finished garment will depend on the diameter of the yarn you decide to use, along with your needle size, your personal knitting tension, and how strenuously you block the finished piece.

Pattern #006

Santa Fe Plaza Scarf is available at Ravelry.com.

This is a small, square shawl (or large scarf) with 26 points per side.
(approximately 45" x 45").

Santa Fe Turquoise Trail Scarf
Pattern #005

I've re-written the pattern with more in-depth instructions
(& the correct charts), and it's up on Ravelry.

Santa Fe Turquoise Trail Scarf was originally published in PIECEWORK Magazine, Mar/Apr 2017 issue.

Please note that there are 2 typos
in the charts in the magazine.

One is on Row 16 of the EDGING chart.
The other is the entire 1st Corner chart which is entirely wrong.

PIECEWORK EDGING CHART - WRONG

Some readers have been confused by my repeating the edge design Rows 1-16, and then on Rows 17-32. I did that so that the knitter could see how the repeats join together, but didn't mention it in the text.
PIECEWORK EDGING CHART - CORRECTED

Work Rows 1–16 of Edging Chart once, then Rows 17-32 five times — 6 points total along the right edge and which will eventually be the bottom edge of the scarf after you've turned the 1st corner.

I like my own way of charting, so I've included my own symbols chart:

And I've included my own 1st CORNER CHART:
